Assigned to a field construction organization in a supervisory or managerial position.
Responsible for the organization and direction of
construction and related activities within assigned area of responsibility, which may be a single area, multi-area or a multi- discipline construction project.
May be the primary client contact for all jobsite activities, or may coordinate with client resident
representatives on jobsite activities within assigned area of operations.
Responsibilities are to ensure assigned jobsite operations are in compliance with design/specifications, completion on schedule,
within budget and to quality standards.
On a large project, coordinates multi-discipline craft activities within a specific area of the project, or all related crafts of a single discipline covering one or more areas of the project.
Provides back-up support to the Field Superintendent and/or Field Construction Manager.
On a medium-sized project, coordinates and directs construction installation activities of the project.
Directs the lead personnel of the operating sections, i.e., Construction Engineering, Quality Control and Supervision.
Provides on-site representation to client
personnel.

Main Duties
Responsible for activities such as the application of drawings, specifications.
Supervises preparation of construction drawings and schedules.
Assists subordinate construction engineers and superintendents in: Interpreting design drawings.
Monitoring construction progress and planning of construction materials and methods.
Reviews specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals and technical data.
Coordinates with the Construction Manager on activities affecting the contract administration operation.
Coordinates with engineering design on constructability issues.
Reviews and/or supervises, as assigned, the preparation of construction estimates, cost engineering studies, schedules and budgets.
Analyses assigned construction activities to determine the scope, time and resource requirements.
Works with various functions to ensure the project achieves corporate goals set for environmental, safety & health, quality, cost, and schedule.
Requirements:
Required criteria
Knowledge and understanding of heavy civil engineering processes and planning essential.
Experience of deep excavations and piling essential.
Understanding of construction interfaces essential.
Experience of tunnel construction advantageous
Technical knowledge of a specialized engineering discipline, cost, scheduling and/or contracts administration relating to the construction of heavy industrial or commercial complexes.
Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Core Processes as they relate to area of responsibility.
Prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors.
Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current (BSAP) standards.
Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/ subcontractor's responsibilities contained in subcontract documents. |
