Set up, operate, or tend continuous flow or vat-type equipment to process milk, cream, or other dairy products, following specified methods and formulas1. Pumps or pours ingredients, such as salt, into product at specified intervals to make dairy products, such as buttermilk. 2. Starts pumps, agitators, and other equipment, adjusts temperature, and controls flow of product through system. 3. Connects pipes, fittings, valves, bowls, plates, disks, impeller shaft, and other parts to equipment with wrench. 4. Turns control knobs to adjust speed of operation or adds ingredients to ensure product meets specifications. 5. Starts pump to convey sterile solution through equipment and to admit measured amount of pasteurized cream into churn. 6. Observes and listens to equipment to detect possible malfunctions and reports malfunctions or product failing to meet specifications to supervisor.
