Event Manager

Responsible for:
The delivery of a competition framework and an events strategy that will provide motivation and satisfaction to participants in orienteering across the participation pathway.

Key responsibilities and main tasks:

Implementing the Competition Framework
• Work with national committees, associations and clubs to communicate and implement the framework
• Support event officials to deliver events that fit onto the competition framework
• Support volunteers and staff in administering the competitions within the framework
• Developing long-term events strategy including a strategy for hosting international events
• Liaise with the Board and Committee to develop an event strategy
• Support Events Committee and its Groups in implementing and marketing the events strategy
• Consult with participants and gather feedback on the events strategy and its implementation
• Support the development and implementation of a strategy for hosting International Events.

Working with and supporting Events Committee and its various Groups
• Attendance at Event Committee meetings
• Attendance at Group meeting where appropriate
• Coordinating administrative support for the Committee and Groups

Working with the Coaching Department to provide training and accreditation for event officials
• Provide training opportunities for event officials
• Implement a system of recognition for those event officials that have evidence of knowledge and competence
• Provide on-going development opportunities for event officials
• Coordinate and administer the support networks for event officials including any accreditation/licensing system

Coordinating and supporting the staging of Major Events
• Develop best practice for staging Major Events including 'on course' and 'off course' aspects
• Coordinate the delivery of best practice advice to all event officials
• Develop standardized procedures for holding Major Events and developing the Major Event Service Level Agreement
• Liaise with major event organizers to ensure and advise on producing 'quality' events that meet the standards required
• Ensure each major event meets the needs of the competition and participants it is staged for
• Liaise with Equipment Officers of Major Events to establish equipment needs
• Source and develop links with suppliers of common equipment
• Coordinate and administer the trophy returns and procedures for Major Events

Requirements:
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Marketing or related field

Experience:

Min 7 years exp. in marketing or events field

Skills:
• Have excellent time management and organizational skills
• Be enthusiastic, self-motivated and outgoing
• Be able to establish productive relationships with people at all levels
• Have good communication and presentation skills
• Be able to gather and interpret information for business research
• Be commercially aware and customer-focused
• Have a positive and adaptable approach to problem solving
• Be innovative and creative to distinguish your event from the competition
• Have knowledge of sales, marketing or copywriting
• Have an understanding of budgeting and financial management
• Be able to work as part of a team
• Possess an eye for detail
