My client is a global financial services firm with an extremely strong brand name. They are one of the few firms in the industry to emerge from the past year with their reputation and share price intact - this is due in part to their heavy presence in the profitable Emerging Markets regions. At the moment they are committed to growing their Africa busines, and as part of this require a Regional Employee Relations Specialist to look after the Labour Relations issues across a dozen countries in the region. The role can be based anywhere in Africa, but will involve travel to various countries depending on the needs of the business. You will be the champion for high-level ER issues, including union negotiations, country-specific labour laws, and all other areas. This is a fantastic role that will see you develop your skills across a growing region, within a firm that prides itself on ethics and best practice.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of being an Employee Relations expert - either a degree in ER, or a special focus on ER during an HR career. This experience must be in Africa (either in-country or regionally). Someone with a generalist HR background will be considered, but would have to prove that they have sufficient ER experience to be a regional expert. You will need to have worked in a multi-national environment where you are used to working across different cultures and nationalities. Strong communication skills, and the ability to negotiate, influence and persuade are extremely important. |
