Job Purpose:
To perform solutions architecture function by defining/designing architecture solutions in the context of large projects or initiatives. It includes coordination with domains architects and driving the impact analysis and design work across Technology areas in alignment with the Technology Architecture Governance Process (TAG) with as objectives to ensure the best technology solutions are implemented/maintained to meet the business requirements and in an appropriate time-to-market conditions.
The solution architect will define end to end solution across the Technology architecture domains. This is achieved through hands-on project architecture work with constant reference back to and refinement of the Technology Enterprise Architecture model and based on the business requirements.
The scope of solution architecture includes the design of applications, processes and data required to support business/technical requirements across BSS, OSS and VAS domains. It's a transversal function within the Technology Systems Architecture which is the centralised architecture authority. The scope of this role covers the BSS domain.
Principal Accountabilities / Key Result Areas:
• To conduct impact analysis across technology architecture domains for all initiatives where Technology Enterprise Architecture is involved by:
o Understanding and challenging the requirements with the initiatives owners and users
o Identifying architecture alternatives and measuring the cost/benefit of all of them
o Ensuring good and efficient coordination with other domains architects in order to define the best Technology solution
o Controlling conformity of the solution to architecture standards, rules and roadmap
o Documenting the impacts and communicating to the business and to the work streams the solutions and the impacts on each area
• To contribute to the definition and maintenance of architecture vision and roadmap:
o Contributing to the strategic planning and roadmaping for the global Technology architecture or for a specific domain
o Following up the general trends in terms of BSS architectures & technologies and identifying opportunities/solutions to enforce the agility of the BSS architecture and to enable quick adjustments to future requirements
o Ensuring that the architecture strategic view, roadmap, rules and principals are taken into account in the actual projects and designed solutions
• Lead the design of complex projects in coordination with other domains architects and Enterprise architects.
• Provide architecture and technology leadership and mentoring and take a leading role in technical discussions with architecture stakeholders and with suppliers
• Build deliverables based on architecture governance and policies defined by Enterprise Architecture
• Contribute with other domains leads and Enterprise Architects to the elaboration of the global architecture vision, the global roadmap and in making the appropriate decision/choices
• Contribute to the definition/maintenance and applicability of architecture governance models/processes.

Core Competencies & Qualification:
• Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering, graduate
• Post graduate degree in Computer Science or Telecoms is a strong preference
• 9+ years of experience in the Technology field in the Telecom industry
• Experience in complex and heterogeneous Information Systems (IS) / Technology Infrastructure (TI) landscapes, which support critical business processes
• Deep Experience in large BSS projects as a solution architect or as architecture team leader
• Deep Experience in BSS architecture in quad play environments (Mobile, fixe, data, TV)
• Deep knowledge of telco processes (customer management, fulfilment, service assurance, billing & collections, logistics, partners management, )
• Deep knowledge of applications & platforms used in telco industry in the BSS domain (Order capture amd management, Billing, CRM, selfcare, fraud management, Business Intelligence, payment systems, ERP, Activation, Inventory, Mediation, Monitoring, Portal, etc.). Experience in convergence (prepaid/postpaid, consumer/Enterprise, Mobile/fixed products)
• Exposure to network technologies and protocols (Mobile, IP, 2G, 3G, wifi, wimax, )
• Knowledge of Network protocols (ISUP, IMS, Osa/parlay, SS7, CAMEL, SMPP, Wap, SNMP)
• Experience with standard protocols, technologies and concepts (J2EE, XML, Web services, Service Oriented Architecture, internet protocols, SQL, RDBMS, Corba, )
• Used to TMF standards (eTOM, TAM, SID)
• Experience in architecture tools and frameworks
• Experience in modelling techniques and tools
• Experience of design involving information translations and translations between users or departments
• Experience of using standardised business models as a means of driving technical architectures
• Previous experience in the development and delivery of Telecom solutions with high level of complexity & integration using EAI to multiple back-end systems, network elements, and touch points
• Previous experience in requirements managements for large scale Technology / IT projects
• Previous experience in communicating, reporting, and presenting to executive and top management
• Solid experience in understanding business requirements and mapping them into defined deliverables. |
