PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Directs and participates in the provision of various technical advisory services within the Maintenance Department on all aspects of maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and modification jobs on rotating equipment at RRD. Reviews equipment performance to ascertain status, performs reliability/availability analysis as well as the implementation of recommended optimum methods to deal with chronic problems. Provides specialized technical guidance and support to field engineers & supervisors in developing and updating of predictive/preventive maintenance programs and ensures their implementation. Supports major expansion projects including reviewing of design basis and scope prior to detailed engineering. Develops strategies to update/replace equipment and systems that are obsolete and old. Conducts HSE audits and evaluate systems and procedures from HSE perspective.

As part of Engineering Support Team at RRD:
• Responsible for reliability and maintainability aspects for all rotating equipment at RRD.
• Contributes to the sustenance, long term availability and reliability of company assets at RRD with a replacement value of more than US$ 2.5 Billions.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
AREA OF WORK RESPONSIBILITIES RESULTS REQUIRED
1. Plant Reliability of Rotating Equipment Carries out various technical activities related to plant reliability of rotating equipments which includes reviewing of plant additions from reliability and maintainability aspect, analysing all critical equipment failures and recommending corrective measures, developing and implementing hi-tech maintenance programs including participation in reliability improvement programs to solve specific reliability problems. To achieve a systematic and cost effective reliability program and optimisation of equipment / system reliability / availability across the plant taking into consideration the observance of HSE requirements.
2. Monitoring of
Equipment Establishes and develops equipment monitoring programs on major items of rotating/reciprocating equipment as well as site guidance in making equipment performance observations i.e. analysing frequent failures, critical equipment failures etc., diagnoses the causes and advices on remedial measures to be taken. To maximize equipment reliability/availability and to ensure that equipment are in a good performing condition at all times
3. Introducing state of the art Technologies. Keeps abreast on new technologies and techniques regarding condition monitoring and diagnostics through contacts with equipment manufacturers; includes recommending appropriate applications, such as vibration analysis, lube oil analysis, thermography, ferrography, acoustic emissions, etc. Also assists in the design review of plant modifications and capital projects. To ensure that the monitoring systems correspond with new technologies to maximize equipment reliability.
4. Preventive
Maintenance Assists in the preparation of predictive, preventive, modification and major shutdown maintenance programmes for all rotating/reciprocating equipment in RRD including implementation of an internal QA/QC procedures for preventive maintenance works to ensure that preventive maintenance routines are carried out correctly and that necessary remedial actions are followed up. To ensure that all equipment across RRD receive proper attention and that repetitive failures of equipment are identified and solutions implemented to avoid recurrence.

5. Major overhaul Follows up on major maintenance work related to rotating equipment, keeps abreast of conditions and type of repair needed, i.e. replacement, modifications, refurbishment. Also reviews requirements for unit shutdown or plant turnaround materials and reports shortages to stores personnel, if not available raises purchase requisitions including carrying out technical evaluation of bids as well as inspecting materials upon arrival to ensure conformity to specifications. To ensure proper implementation of major inspection for critical/essential rotating equipment to ensure long term equipment reliability/availability.
6. Trouble Shooting Provides advice on actions to be taken related to complex problems; includes advising section head / engineer / supervisor on trouble shooting of important / chronic failures and giving repair and test procedures. To maximize equipment reliability and M.T.B.F. as well as reducing recurrence of failures.
7. Budget Participates in preparation of budget estimates for capital and operating requirements. To ensure all requirements are included in budget
8. Records Audits maintenance records on all vital and essential equipment and database for rotating equipment maintenance management system. To ensure records on all vital and essential equipment are available for future analysis.
9. Five year plan Identifies major contracts and procurement items for next five years.
Distributes the same in five year business plan as per requirement/procedure. To ensure all requirement are included in five year plan
10. HSE Participates and coordinates DAA, HSE, TQM activities.
Conducts HSE internal audits. Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with HSE-MS.
11. Training. Assists in preparing training programs for UAE National employees undergoing on-the-job training by identifying specific training needs. Provides essential training and guidance to trainees, developees and other subordinates with a clear objective of career development. To ensure that all employees receive a proper training specially UAE nationals to cater for Emiritization Scheme.
SUPERVISION, PLANNING & ORGANIZING:
• Plans long-term major inspection for all major equipment.
• Organizes condition monitoring set up system including manpower and equipment requirements and issues regular reliability reports.
PURPOSE OF THE SUBORDINATE JOBS:
Condition Monitoring Technician: Carries out the skilled maintenance repair and overhaul of various types of rotating equipments. The work includes regular monitoring and rectification of defective equipment, disassembly, repair and reassembly, and the installation and testing of all machineries.
WORK CONTACTS
Internally: Daily contacts with maintenance, operations personnel and Engineering & Projects Division in Abu Dhabi, up to section head level, to discuss problems and coordinate appropriate solutions.
External: Regular contacts with counterparts in other operating companies and ADNOC Group affiliate companies for exchanging information and discussing matters of mutual concern. Occasional contacts with representatives of service companies in the plant and vendors upto managerial level on matters related to services etc.
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED FOR THE JOB:
1. B. Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.
2. 7 years experience and specialized knowledge in rotating equipment maintenance, repairs, diagnostics and analysis, including a variety of large compressors, pumps and turbines in oil/gas or petrochemical industry.
3. Familiarity with CMMMS (Maximo preferred).
4. Familiarity with Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) techniques.
5. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
ABOUT THE JOB:
• The position is of an important nature that plays a vital role within the Maintenance Department (mechanical). The incumbent is responsible for reviewing rotating equipment performance to ensure performance reliability/availability status which includes recommending optimum methods to deal with chronic problems. The incumbent should exercise alertness in carrying out his duties to avoid future hazardous conditions that may have severe impact on long term integrity of company assets. |
