Job Purpose:
Senior Technical Architect to deliver web portal technical solution architecture and design for e-Commerce and Web Portal systems and any related systems and technologies such as J2EE, Single-Sign-On and LDAP technologies
Responsible for the technology planning, strategy, direction and design choices available to address the business and non-functional requirements. The focus of the architect position is to provide Subject Matter Expertise from hardware stack up through 3rd Party product/application stack (hardware, operating system, storage, network and application layer centric). This role will work with the various customers and vendors to provide fit-for-purpose solutions. This includes the guidance, support and advice in the implementation and deployment for any new or existing product developments.
Principal Accountabilities / Key Result Areas:
• Plan technical web solutions that provide availability, reliability, stability, manageability, scalability and security.
• Identify project scope and estimate time and resource requirements.
• Provide planning and documentation as required to the business units for new technologies.
• Carry out evaluation and selection of appropriate technologies to be used across the department for the provision of solutions to meet customer and business requirements.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Should be very proactive in identifying and addressing technical issues
• Build, develop and maintain effective working relationships between Technology Planning and Business Units to fulfil business goals, and other groups within the organization
• Develop and maintain effective business/project relationships with Operations and Infrastructure teams ensuring all requirements from the Business Units are met.
• Ability to gather business requirements and create technical solutions to meet those business requirements
• Ability to effectively consider trade-offs between performance, scalability, reliability, availability, maintainability, manageability and business requirements.
• Adhere to Technology Planning policies and practices in all activities. Where appropriate make recommendation for improvements to increase efficiencies and effectiveness.
• Work with vendors and service providers to analyze, design and implement robust, extensible and creative web solutions weighing costs versus benefits.
• Proven track record in leading the analysis and design of large, complex, high performance, high availability and scalable enterprise applications
• Well-developed abilities to effectively communicate technical issues to business audiences, and business issues to technical audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to convert business requirements into functional solution architecture
• Strong design / architecture experience on J2EE

Core Competencies & Qualification:
• Good university degree in IT, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Around 5 to 8 years of solid work experience in web solution design and/or developing website portals.
• Strong experience of design and development using J2EE, Java, XML, JSP/Servlets, JDBC.
• Good architecture and design documentation is required
• Experience in Spring framework, Hibernate framework, web services, SOA and UML
• Experience in BEA WebLogic Portal.
• Experience in Vignette Content Management system.
• Experience in RSA Access Manager.
• Strong knowledge in databases using Oracle 10g, MySQL and Ms SQL Server.
• Hands on TIBCO messaging, CRM and billing systems
• Possess good interpersonal and communication skills to engage the business community in understanding and sourcing for their requirements.
• High degree of resourcefulness, dependability and design creativity skills.
• Experience in UNIX and Windows 2003 server
• Experience in Single Sign On and LDAP user identity software
• Broad knowledge of application servers, web servers and database servers.
